A guide to your BaZi chart

Where a BaZi chart begins

A BaZi chart has four pillars, one each for your birth year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar pairs a Heavenly Stem with an Earthly Branch, giving the chart its eight characters. Check your birth date and time before entering them: a different hour can change the hour pillar.

Once the four pillars are set, AskSoul looks at the Day Master, then the Five Elements, Ten Gods, and luck cycles. As you read, you can see which chart details sit behind each interpretation and how they relate to work, relationships, or everyday habits.

Inside the report

What you'll find in the report

You don't need to learn BaZi terms first. Each section starts with the chart, then explains how its details might show up in ordinary life.

Strengths and sources of pressure

The Day Master is the starting point; the Five Elements and Ten Gods add detail. This section looks at what comes naturally, how you respond when people press for an answer, and where pressure tends to build. When tasks suddenly pile up, do you sort them first or agree to everything and work it out later?

Relationships, work, and money

It is easy to lump all three together as a question of whether your luck is good. The report separates them: communication in relationships, the roles you take at work, and how you handle income and resources. Each part points back to the relevant elements or Ten Gods.

Themes across luck cycles and years

A luck cycle spans a longer period; an annual cycle focuses on one year. Read alongside the natal chart, they bring different themes into view, from the pace of work to collaboration and shifting priorities. You can see which traits recur and which come to the foreground in a particular period.

  1. 01

    Start with the chart

The Day Master is Gui Water, and the Ren-Zi hour pillar adds more Water. Ji Earth appears in the month stem, while the Mao branch holds Yi Wood. Picking out just one character would miss the rest of the picture.

  2. 02

    Read the pattern

Together, these details suggest a pattern: more demands can bring tension, while writing down observations and turning them into a plan can help move things forward.

  3. 03

    Make it useful

Say a task arrives without a clear goal or deadline. Ask for both before rearranging your work. That saves more time than saying yes immediately and redoing the job later.

Before you create your chart

Have your Gregorian birth date, exact birth time, and birth place ready before filling in the form. It also asks for a name and gender. If all you know is “morning” or “evening,” check a birth certificate or hospital record instead of guessing.

Questions about your BaZi reading

Where should I start with my first BaZi chart?

Check the Four Pillars for your birth year, month, day, and hour, then find the Heavenly Stem of the day pillar: your Day Master. From there, reading the Five Elements and Ten Gods is easier than memorizing every term at once.

Is having less of one element a bad sign?

Not necessarily. Element counts alone are not enough, and a missing element does not automatically need adding. Your birth month, Day Master, and interactions between elements also matter.

How do luck cycles differ from annual influences?

Luck cycles describe longer phases, usually about ten years per pillar. Annual influences focus on a particular year. Read both alongside the original chart to distinguish long-term patterns from that year's focus.

What does the AskSoul BaZi report explain?

The report begins with the Four Pillars, Day Master, Five Elements, and Ten Gods, then explores personality, relationships, work, luck cycles, and annual influences. Each section connects back to chart details so you can follow the basis for the interpretation.

Do I need to pay for an AskSoul BaZi report?

After generation, you can read part of your chart first. Deeper chapters requiring payment show their content and price before checkout, so you can decide whether to continue.
